March 5th- 11th: Week one was simply getting home, getting into a routine, and getting to know our littlest man a little better. Harrison stayed at my parents for the first night home, but then he wanted to join the family back at home, so by night two it was reality.
Silas is a really calm baby. The nurses in the hospital kept remarking on how "chill" he really was. Bryan and I agreed, remembering what the first days/nights were like with his older brother. It could be that we are a lot calmer this time around, too.
The first week of nights, at home at least, were good. He slept between 3-4 hours at a time, and got up- ate- and went back to sleep. What more can you ask for? For the first week, Silas was exclusively breastfed. This was something I was really trying to make work this time around, and he seemed to be on board with the plan. He was a good eater from the start, but has only gained an ounce from his discharge weight, so time will tell if we can continue (as I had supply issues with Harrison). For now, we are both happy with the arrangement.
Harrison has done remarkably well. He really does love his brother. He gets SO EXCITED when we are having new people over, and meets them at the door to tell them all about his new baby brother! He has been testing a little, but what new sibling wouldn't? Luckily, both mom and dad are home, so there has been time for each of us to take special time with Harry this first week.
Grandma and grandpa visiting when they brought Harry home.
Somewhat unimpressed little brother.
The many faces of Mr. Silas!
Harrison had a fort and a special lunch while watching a movie one afternoon.
My boys- snuggling up before nap time.
Flowers and a painting from Harrison and Dad :)
