Food: We go on a roller coaster ride with Harrison every week with eating. Some weeks he can't get enough...and he is willing to try ANYTHING on his plate. The next, he is only willing to eat string cheese and bananas. In talking with parents at our ECFE class, this is pretty typical, so at least we know that other kids have this multiple personality disorder when it comes to eating.
Lodging: The month of February into March was bad for sir Harry. He started off with his yearly bought of Croup. Luckily, there were no early morning/middle of the night trips to Children's Hospital, but there were a few appointments at the doctor where they made him wear the germie mask in the waiting room because he sounded so sick :( In that time he had a couple ear infections and finally a ruptured eardrum. Needless to day, sleep was bad, too, but who could blame him.
Once he started to feel better, he was back to sleeping through the night (with only an occasional lost lambie freakout at 2am). He continues to be a napping champ- typically 2 hours in the afternoon. Selfishly, I am hoping this continues for the next 2 years. He is getting better at staying up later, which makes evening plans easier to accommodate, and our lives a little less tied to the clock.
Apparel: Harry is still rocking his 2T-3T clothes. I have started to sprinkle in some 3T pants, but his legs are so short that I end up rolling them up and that makes him cranky. Go figure! I am writing this post on April 28th, and I can finally say that the last snowbank melted, and there is only one small chance for snow the upcoming week. Consequently, I finally felt it was safe to take out Harry's summer clothes. There are few things that I dislike more than the clothes shuffle, but it is a necessary evil when you live in a place where the temperature varies over 100 degrees from the warmest to the coldest days.
Communication: We have heard some gems this past week. First, Harrison took the top off his sippie cup and let out, "Oh man, I totally spilled my milk."
Then, we were shopping at our favorite store (think red shopping carts and bullzeye's), and in the cracker isle Harry looks at this woman with rhinestones on the pockets of her jeans and says, "Hey there Fancy Pants!" Oh, boy! We are in trouble!
He is definitely picking up on our slang, and for some reason it just sounds weird coming from a 2.9 year old.
Transportation: Getting sick of the winter, though he was happy to play outside. Rolling toys through the house are just not the same as having room on the driveway. Harry picked out a new helmet and training wheels for his bike during January when they were 70% off at Target. He is SO excited to use them, and we figured by March he would have had the opportunity. Sadly, no matter how much I tell him it is technically spring, the April blizzards are confusing, and frustrating, and cabin-fever inducing. I mean last year it was 80 degrees on St. Patrick's Day!
Entertainment: This post starts with Valentines day. So, naturally we spent time at the Valentine's carnival and doing all kinds of Valentines day crafts (a favorite of Harry- not to be confused with coloring or drawing).
Shortly after Valentine's day, I left for Charleston, SC to visit Dave, Heidi and Hazel. Then, they day I flew home, Bryan left for Los Angeles for the rest of the week. With both mom and dad gone on trips, Harrison told Bryan he was convinced he was going to San Diego on Sunday. I don't know why it was San Diego, but there could have been worse places.
Books are still a big thing in Harry's world. He recently found a new favorite book called I Stink!!! I am hoping to get a video of him reciting every page very soon.
This was our 3rd wheel on our Valentine's date. It was so romantic...confetti on the table and everything!
We went to the Valentine's Carnival at Bryan's parents church. The boys found things that toddlers could do, and plenty of yummy things to eat!
I love the progression of Harrison eating his cotton candy. This was over about a minute...notice it is almost all gone by the end of the pictures.
Harrison made his Valentine'e cards for grandma and grandpa this year... such a HUGE mess, but so much fun!
Leftover supplies in the bathtub :)
Jeremiah and Harrison doing some crafts on snowy Saturday.
Harrison pouting in the snow...
He is really not a huge fan of playing when he is cold. But, everyone else wanted to stay outside. Sorry, buddy...
Future hocker player?
After sledding, and playing in the snow, we had some hot chocolate to warm up. Notice how neatly Jeremiah is sipping his. Harry has it all over his shirt, the table, the chair and the floor. I guess we will work on his mug drinking skills.
Harry and Bryan have been working on plumbing for the basement bathroom. He has been such a good helper making holes in the floor and digging in the dirt.
Easter egg making!
The table all set for Easter brunch.
The Eater bunny has definitely come. I was happy, though, that when you asked Harry about Easter he could tell you that Jesus came back from the dead. We are making progress :)
CHOCOLATE LAMBIES!!!!
Blowing up the beach ball!
Due to the wonderful snow storm we received just before Easter, we had egg hunting INDOORS! It was still a success, but definitely different than most years.
HAPPY EASTER!!!!
We celebrated Bryan's birthday on April 5th as a family, and got to have a night out just mom and dad, too.
