Caroline- 8 Month Letter

Today you are 8 months old!!

I am blessed to be HOME with you, my sweet girl. You are so happy just to be around all of us for whatever we are doing that day. Your brothers are getting in on the extra time with mom, too, but you get a lot of it. You have no problem sharing me with your brothers, as they are very high on your favorite people list. The highest person, however, is definitely your DADDY! Anytime your Dad walks into the room, your eyes light up in a way that they do not light up for anyone else. Its OK, you only spend all your time with me, and all!


You are doing a lot more these days. You have a really great little lady cackle, though we are not sure if you are very ticklish, you do like to share it whenever the situation needs a laugh. You enjoy toys that you can chew on; Sophie the Giraffe, chewie rings, and nuks! You are a NUK baby. It only took us 12 different brands to find one that you liked, but we know well, by now, that you are going to do things on your time, in your own way.

Speaking of doing things on your time, at your 6-month appointment you were over the 98th percentile for everything, which is par for the Gregory kid course. You were “behind” on doing a couple things, though. You REFUSED to work on sitting up, and weren’t too excited about putting any weight on your legs/feet. Plus, you were not too sure about wanting to eat baby food, either. After the doctor examined you, he said, “She is perfectly capable of both sitting and bearing weight on her legs, she is simply not ready to do either because she would rather roll and lay down.” Again, on your own time, in your own way. Since that appointment you have started standing with assistance, but you are still wobbly when sitting up.

You have hit so many milestones- First smile, first time rolling over (which you did for Harrison), laughing, eating solid foods, first 6 teeth!! It is going by all so very fast. We are soaking it all up. You have moved through clothes at a warp speed. I have packed up and given away Newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and have taken out 12 months for summer, but also some 18 months! We have put away/gotten rid of bouncy chairs, swings and the MamaRoo.  At 22.9 lbs, the last time we weighed you, I am not surprised you are outgrowing things so fast! You are starting to get interested in your brothers toys, so that will (I am sure) be something I am writing about in the next letter. I am interested to see how it goes wth Silas. He is not sure about you yet, but it definitely warming up. Harrison, however, is already 100% on your team.

Wow!! What a fast 4 months. We can’t wait to see how the last 4 months of your first year unwrap. We are excited to be there for it all!
