Silas- 21 Months

November 26th- December 25th: Christmas will be on a separate post, so enjoy all that happened besides the 3 Christmas celebrations that Silas took part in!

Silas has started a really cute new habit- Rolling his eyes when he is (we think) bored. We were sitting at Costco and he was lounging on a couch display. I told him it was time to get up and he rolled his eyes at me! What a stinker! These moments remind me that we are just around the corner from a 2-year-old living in our house. Luckily, he is still pretty agreeable, and easily distracted, when upset. So, we will soak that up while it lasts :)

Food:
Silas has hit a picky eater phase. Nothing too crazy, he just has more of an opinion about what he wants. We were at his final appointment with the ENT (before he got his ear tubes replaced) and we walked out by a little deli where someone was ordering a turkey sandwich. He started screaming "turkey sammich, turkey sammich". It was 11:15, and I was trying to come up with a lunch plan, so I guess he just beat me to it. I have to admit, it was a great turkey sandwich that we shared.

Lodging:
He is not sleeping. His tubes were replaced in the middle of this month. Now, he is sleeping. AMEN!

Communication:
Silas is a chatty Kathy these days!! When he wakes up, we hear him in the monitor talking to us before we hear anything else. He is probably talking to himself, come to think of it, but either way the conversations are pretty entertaining. His vocabulary is HUGE, and we often find ourselves wondering where he has picked up some of his words, or phrases. It is so fun to see his personality coming through his speech, too.

Transportation:
Silas is getting better at doing the stairs, and consistently grabs for my hands to go down the stairs like a "big boy." He LOVES to run, I think because he is finally steady at faster speeds. His favorite pace, right now, if church. The gathering area is huge, and we usually let him run when we get there. Each time I take him to the nursery for a "play date" at hourly childcare, we have to allow an extra 10 minutes to RUN!

Entertainment:
His favorite form of entertainment this month, aside from the ever popular big brother, is the Christmas Tree. Specifically, the little red plastic ball ornaments that pull off really easily and roll around the house (see below for pictures). Needless to day, there are no little red balls at the bottom of the tree anymore. We are waiting to put gifts under the tree until a few days before Christmas, as well.

Silas still has a CRAZY obsession with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! Just as Harrison thinks he is "outgrowing" it, of course :)

Oh, Christmas Tree!

These are those ornaments I was talking about. He collects them in secret spots all over the house.

The different stages of watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  The last one is my favorite. I have been trying to catch it for years :)

I set out all the candies needed to create some gingerbread masterpieces. Silas was eyeing up the M&M's.

Got em!

Overall, it was pretty successful. Obviously, he had some help from his FPITW (Favorite Person in the World) also known as his big brother.

We made some cookies at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Waiting to do our final checkup before getting that blocked ear tube replaced :)

SWIMMING LESSONS!! It was... challenging to do swimming lessons with Silas. He liked to kick us in the throat trying to swim away on his own. So, he will have some time off from lessons and just go swimming for fun.
He LOVES going to the doctor. Usually not the case with little ones, but this little one has learned that the doctor is the only person who can tell when he has an ear infection (since he gives no symptoms besides not sleeping...). Doctor = PAIN RELIEF.

Silas got his right tube replaced. As we were leaving, the SP Police were bringing gifts to the children at the hospital. So, we stopped to watch all the fun.

We went to the downtown Macy's display and ran around the empty IDS on a Sunday morning.
