Silas- 9(1/2) Month Letter and 9 Month Photos!

 Silas-

You are PURE JOY!! At 9 months (and 8 days) your personality has really come through, and we couldn't say enough amazing things about it. You are calm, patient, laid-back, and happy almost every minute of every day. We have had more people than I can count on both hand comment on how easy going and happy you are. You are even happy with ear infections, and illness on board. Again, as we said, pure joy!

A side-effect of the ear infections I mentioned is that you have been up a few times each night for the past month. Though you are up for a total of 8 minutes to eat and make sure that we still be there when you need us, you are not a huge snuggler. You will only fall asleep in the arms of two people: your dad, and your grandpa Jon (much to the dismay of your mama). Last month you started to stand up and reach for us when we come in to get you from your crib in the morning. After we pick you up, the first thing you want is to find your brother! You have even started to say his name- Hess!!

You can crawl at EPIC speeds! The opposite of your big brother, when you are determined to get somewhere it gets really quiet. It also gets really quiet when you are getting into something that you should not get into. All we hear is the quicker pace that you have chosen to move with. I think you will be silent and sneaky :) That is unless you want to tell us about something!! We had worried that your motor-mouth big brother would talk for you, and you wouldn't get a word in edgewise. Now, we are worried that between the two of you, WE wont get a word in edgewise (and we might need to invest in earplugs).

Speaking of the two of you, you and your brother are starting to play more together. You love to play in his room, as it is often a "forbidden land." You watch him do things with such excitement and your dad and I are convinced that though you love us both very much, your brother is your favorite person on earth. I can only hope that you stay this close!
You are a champion at eating! You are up to 3 solid meals per day, eating with your 8 teeth ANYTHING we put in front of you! You prefer finger foods, and shovel them into your mouth by the fist-full. You squeal with glee when you are put in your high chair and pat your hand on the table until we put something in front of you to eat. You clap all the time, but especially when we are all sitting together at the dinner table eating, almost like you are cheering for your food (and your bother is there).

You clap (and say yay!) wave hello, say your brothers name, 'kinda' say dada, and get into everything! I predict that by next time I write, you will be starting to talk with real words, maybe even saying mama. I also think that you will have mastered walking by then, too. You are getting so good at standing on your own and walking behind toys, and I can tell you are anxious to get on two feet and chase after your brother. One thing is for sure, whatever you do next, it will be with a smile on your face.

We love you very much,

Mom (and Dad, too).
