2.5 Years- July 26th- August 25th
FOOD
Silas is definitely learning to eat a lot, but he has definite opinions about what he will eat a lot of! His go-to breakfast food is a Trader Joe's Apple Bar and milk. It cannot be a Nutrigrain, or a store-brand bar, but MUST BE Trader Joe's. We now buy them in bulk, as the nearest Trader Joe's is 25 minutes away.
For the rest of the day, he would be thrilled if everyday could be crackers, cheese and apple juice for all meals besides breakfast. A close second is hot dogs, especially the ones from Costco (can you tell that dad has been gone for a while in California, and mom is looking for easy dinners when we are out playing in the middle of selling the house?)
LODGING
This has definitely changed the most since our last post. Silas not only moved to a new state, but he moved into a different room, with a different bed, and a few stops on the way to the new "big white house" (as he calls it). He slept at grandma and grandpa's house, in his old toddler bed. Then, the hotel, then his bunk beds in the new house in St.Louis. He has LOVED having his new bedroom, and having a giant playroom right outside his bedroom door. We will have to see how distracting that will be :) He seems to have taken all of this in stride, but that is more his personality than his ability to cope. He just isn't bothered by much these days.
The biggest change...when he asks for Daddy to tuck him in, it isn't a Facetime call away. He is in the same house as us now, so EVERYTHING is better!
TRANSPORTATION
Silas is actually a fairly coordinated little man. He can run really fast, and all of the pieces seem to go together really well. He would like to play soccer, but with the move, we have to wait until fall, or next spring, to play soccer in Missouri.
In our new neighborhood, we live on the culd-e-sac with another little friend, Addison, who is also 2.5. They have been driving cars, trikes and trucks around the street like crazy. both boys have been outside, playing with other kids, more in the last month than almost all of our time at our old house. YAY for awesome neighbors.
COMMUNICATION
Silas' current favorite phrase is "i have a big-big problem". This is usually followed by a plea to come and help him with a terrible problem with whatever toy he is playing with. Which brings us to entertainment...
ENTERTAINMENT
His
current favorite toys are between his two die cast PT Cruisers, his new white 80's-style limo
(from his trip to Duluth) and an array of diggers and bulldozers that
are a little bigger than match box cars. Basically, any cars! This is a
playtime party that Harrison is happy to join in on. Harrison and Silas have bonded through the move. I think more because Harrison realized that he wasn't moving his cousins with him, who he had been used to spending so much time with, and that his brother was moving with us. Whatever the reason, the joyful playing is a welcome thing in the chaos that was life the last few months.
After moving, and getting settled a little bit, we took a week to explore some of the best kids attractions in St. Louis. Harrison started school mid-August, so Silas missed him something fierce for the first week, then he got really excited about being the only one home with mom. Another fun thing for Silas was that mom wasn't going anywhere. For the first time in 10 years, I was not preparing for a school year, and he would not be going to daycare. Lots of changes, but at 2.5, they are all good in Silas' eyes.
We did mud photos before we left with Aleah. Silas is TERRIFIED of getting dirty, so it was not a great idea. As always, however, Aleah got great photos!

Helping dad with a project over first weekend of August.
Goodbye, Little house!

Silas really started to like movie dates this summer, which is great for this tired. pregnant mama :) His only request is that it is a movie theater with reclining seats, so they don't fold up on him.
Splashing at Crystal Cove withe the ECFE friends.
Making a "Minnesota Bear" to take with him at the Mall of America.
Cousin outing to Como Zoo.
A date with dad to Yoyo Donuts and the Crayola Experience at the Mall of America. Gosh, we are going to miss that place!

The bugs like Silas.
We said our final good-byes to Minnesota...

Silas' new room!
The beginnings of the playroom.

Gotta love IKEA!
St. Louis Zoo Trip.
The "new" Crystal Cove. I think there are places closer by, but we are learning the area. As Silas says, "mommy, do you have your phone so it can tell you how to get home?"
YAY! For a neighborhood pool!
Watching Sheriff Callie :)
Playtime with our awesome neighbors!
We have to look at clocks every time we visit Target.
