Caroline- Week 52

October 20th, 2017

Well folks, she is ONE!!! There will be a separate post with her 1-year letter, but I wanted to use this one to post about her party weekend. Joel and Holly and famiy, as well as Kevin and Erika and family made the trip down for her birthday! It was such a joy having so many cousins to play with in addition to the few neighbors that we invited to join the grandparents and us.

We are BLESSED beyond measure to have this girl as our daughter, and to have family make the trip for her party!

For Caroline's birthday weekend, we took the Grafton Ferry to Eckert's in Illinois.

Caroline- 51 Weeks

October 12th- 19th

As luck of the Gregory Family would have it, Caroline got sick for her first birthday. All three kiddos actually got sick for their first birthday's and now all three of our kids are sick for Caroline's birthday. At least they are consistent. We had plenty of company headed over, so I brought them into the doctor to make sure there wasn't anything lurking that they would share with their friends and family.

This week there wasn't a lot new on the "here is what Caroline is doing front", except getting older. Grandma and grandpa Gregory came into town a few days before the party to hang out and help us prepare. We were able to go on a few adventures while getting ready for the party, and Caroline had a great time soaking up lots of hugs and snuggles from both grandparents.

Caroline- 50 Weeks

October 5th- 11th

Caroline had been a great sleeper, even in her new room by herself. She is now, however, getting tooth # 9, so sleep is something that we will all just have to live without. Coupled with the fact that her brothers are both sick, meaning it is only a matter of time before the yucky cold moved on to her, we are not planning to sleep wonderfully anytime soon, but that is the season we are in.

This week, playing has been job number one on Caroline's list. She is starting to gravitate towards toys that she had not paid attention to before, with the exception of her baby dolls. She has also become much more interested in reading books, and having me sing to her. We have spent many afternoons sitting in the living room reading Little Lamb, Madeline, Touch and Feel Farm, or Snow White, or singing The Wheels on the Bus, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, or Jesus Loves Me.

Her schedule is getting more predictable. She has settled into a short morning nap, longer afternoon nap, bottle around 9am and a bottle around 1pm. We are trying to wean her bottles, but they are already down to 4 oz, so there isn't much more to take away. We are also working on finding the right sippy cup, but we have not come across one that she really likes...yet. She is doing a great job at eating table foods, and rarely scoffs at what is put in front of her. Some of her favorites right now are: cheese, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, PBJ, cooked carrots and cooked potatoes.

An early October trip to Grants Farm Halloween Nights!

Caroline- 49 Weeks

September 28th- October 4th

Caroline's biggest change this week is that she is pulling up on and standing at everything! The only problem is that she is such a tall girl (and she took her time deciding that standing was the thing to do) that many of her toys have her hunching over to play. Hunching over does not help with balance, but she if figuring it out.

This girl is babbling and pointing at EVERYTHING! She is pointing at things when we are out, or pointing at what she wants at home. These days, she would love to spend every waking hour outside in the swing in the back yard, or taking her brother Silas' trains from the train table that just happens to be the perfect height for Caroline to stand at. Silas is learning to be more patient...

As we approach her first birthday, I am positive there will be no walking action, but that is 100% OK with this mama. She can get into a enough trouble without being able to walk or run to it. God knew exactly what he was doing when he matched her stubbornness with sweetness, and her determination with her need for the familiar. Her little personality is really starting to show through!

 Playtime with her big-big brother.
