Silas- 13 month letter and 1 Year Photos!

Silas-

My sweet, loving, easygoing, patient not-so-little boy. You had an eventful month from 12 months to 13 months, and so I write this letter to you a little late, but with all of your birthday memories very fresh in my mind.

The biggest, most incredible, amazing and outstanding news (to us), is that you are sleeping through the night... CONSISTENTLY. I believe, no I pretty much know,  that this was a direct result of getting tubes in your ears a few days after your first birthday. You were a trooper for the procedure, much more calm and together than mom and dad were. Within a few days, we noticed that you can hear a lot better, and you have even started to copy more of what we are saying.
Some of your favorite words at 13 months are:
- Dider- Diaper
- Mama- Mom
- Dada- Dad (thought it can sound like diaper sometime, too)
- Duh- Duck
- Hessin- Harrison
- Mo- More
- Baba- Bottle
- NaNa- Night Night
- Boo- Book
- Oh, Oh- Oh NO!
- AhDon- All Done
- Nuh- No

You just started adding the word "no" to the head shake that you have had mastered for 3 months now. You are consistent with shaking your head when you really mean "no" and have started to sign more when eating and actually meaning that you want more. We are working on the sign for "all done" as right now it more resembles a one handed swipe of all things left on your tray to the floor.
You have an amazing appetite, and often eat more than your almost 5-year-old brother at a meal. There is only one food that you don't like, but it is a weird one... BANANAS!!!

With such a big appetite, I am not surprised that you are such a big boy! You are bigger than your brother was at this age, and so the seasons you were born in being off a little is going to make a difference this summer when you are already wearing a bigger size than Harry did all summer (and it is only March). You are wearing some 18 month clothing, and really need me to take out all 18-24 and 24 month clothing, as a few of your current onzies look like low cut women's shirts :)

Your tooth count on your first birthday was 11, with a 12th and final tooth (the last molar) roaring to come in. Your tooth count as I write this 13 month letter is 13, with that pesky molar popping in and one eye tooth, too. You don't let much get to you, bu teething can sometimes make you just sorta happy, as opposed to the ultra happy you usually are :)

Right now, you are most into standing on the chair or couch in front of the window and looking out, or climbing anything you can to look outside. As I looked back at your brother's letter, he was crazy about this at your age, too! You like to examine things and carefully take apart and put back together tiny objects. You have always been really good at that. You LOVE Books, especially those that you can touch different textures on or books that have flaps to lift. You are not really into TV, or movies, but you have recently shown an interest in Daniel Tigers Neighborhood (Mr. Rogers as a tiny cartoon lion). I would say that the other big thing right now, that has always been a big thing for you, is music. You love listening to it, playing instruments and playing with toys that sing to you. This makes your mama very happy!!

It has been such an amazing year, our sweet Silas. We would never change a thing about it!

We love love LOVE you,
Mom (and Dad, too)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Silas- Week 52

February 26th- March 4th: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I am not going to write a ton here, because there will be a 1-year letter coming soon!! I am, however, going to narrate through a BUNCH of pictures from his birthday :)

Another big happening this week, Silas got Tubes in his ears on Monday after his birthday. He was such a fantastic boy for it. They had warned us that he would come off the 5 minutes of anesthesia in one of two ways- screaming or sleepy. We were pretty positive he would do the later, because screaming really isn't his style. I was able to go back and hold him while he fell asleep. Then, 7 minutes later the doctor came in to tell us he did great. He was sleepy and hungry when he returned, and then we went home and played. So crazy!!!

The last big thing for the week was Silas' 1-year doctors appointment. SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS...

Stats (all in the 98th percentile):
Height: 33 inches
Weight: 26lbs, 8 oz.
(compared to Harrison at 1- 26lbs, 5 oz, and 32.5 inches)

All my boys on Silas' birthday.

Riding on his scooter plane doing "Wheels on the Bus".

More "Wheels on the Bus"...

...more "Wheels on the Bus"...

...and more "Wheels on the Bus".

Opening presents is a group effort when you are one!

In true Silas style, he thought the cupcake was good, but not as good as sucking his thumb!

Facetiming grandma and grandpa in Arizona for the cake eating.

He finally tasted a little frosting at the end, but it was very neat and tidy.

And, finally... "Wheels on the Bus"!!

All ready to get his tubes!!

I used Heidi's cookie cake recipe to make the birthday cake for Silas, since he wasn't all that dons of cupcakes. This was a much bigger hint all around!

We had Silas' family birthday party at a big indoor park called Edinbourough. The cousins LOVED all the activity on a cold winter day, and I loved that we were not all crammed in our little house.

Silas enjoyed opening cards and a few presents. We asked fr donations to a children's book program at Children's Hospital, since the boys have a TON of toys!

Last- We ate BURGERS at Fudrucker's (this time it was dad's choice, but Silas does like hamburgers).

WOW!!! A year has FLOWN BY SO FAST!!!
