September 14th- October 13th: This month, Harrison has really become a really, hmmm...how can I say this nicely...whiney child. We picked him up from church nursery the last two Sunday's, and he was the kid with tears running down his face moaning "mama". He has always been such a tough guy, and now he is not, I find myself in unfamiliar territory. Hopefully it is just a phase, and he will toughen up and move on. In the mean time, he can call for his mama all he wants :)
Food:
Perfectly in step with the new season, Harrison has started to like eating apples (peel and all). He has also become a fan of mandarin oranges (perhaps the product of mom constantly offering them) and scrambled eggs. Otherwise, there is not a lot of difference in the meals that we eat and the meals that Harrison eats, which is great. I never really liked being a made to order chef!!
Lodging: Sleep is good. Harrison is starting to understand that. Enough said.
Communication: Earlier in the month, auntie Rara and I taught Harrison a new word...window. Now, there isn't anything shocking about teaching him the word window, but what he actually says is the bigger deal. Every time we ask Harrison to find a window, he points and says DILDO. So folks, just look around at all the potential dildo's out there....YEAH! Luckily, towards the end of the month he learned a new word to obsess over...dinosaurs. I believe that dinosaur (or sorasours, as Harry calls them) have almost taken over the car obsession. The ultimate challenge would be to place a car and a dinosaur next to each other and see which one he goes for first :)
Transportation: We got a new car, that sits up higher, and I think that it gives Harrison a better view of the world. He has been talking more about the things he can see outside his 'window', and pointing out a lot more than he did before. As for Harrison's current modes of self transportation, this month the Winnie the Pooh train seems to be a favorite.
Apparel: I love Minnesota, but the weather has varied almost 50 degrees from week to week over the past month, so I have had NO CLUE when to pack up Harry's summer clothing. Needless to say, Harrison's dresser drawers and closet space are a little cramped due to the ALL season clothing war, and the fact that he generally has enough clothing from one season to dress quintuplets! Hopefully fall will really settle in soon, and we can pack up the shorts, and his beloved Crocs...I am ready!!
Entertainment: We finished Harrison's swing set (which is actually his big 2nd birthday gift, but who wants to rebuild an old swing set in March/April?) He seems to approve, but is a little hesitant about the speed of his slide, and prefers to slide down backwards so his feet touch the ground first. Smart.
Harrison has also started to like coloring with crayons. I have a giant roll of white paper that I leave on our dining room table. When he feels like coloring he climbs up on the chair, unrolls the paper and points to the crayons and usually says "please". I LOVE THIS so much that no matter what I am doing, I stop and color with him. I can promise that he will never remember the time I didn't finish the dishes, but he will soon remember the time that I wouldn't color with him. I can see some art projects in the very near future!!
